Everyone's into astrology these days, but no one's really talking about Pluto.
For all of us, Pluto's current movements explain the way power balances are shifting on the world stage, before our eyes and under our feet. For Americans, and anyone living on Turtle Island at this moment in history, the US Pluto Return explains our loss of legitimacy abroad, the rising fascist tide at home, the bizarre, dystopian Groundhogs Day of an election season we're entering, and the disintegration of our institutions, electoral system, and public safety net. It's dark stuff, but as I will demonstrate in this class, the astrological & archetypal overlaps are stunning, and those frameworks have a lot to offer us when it comes to making sense of our current predicament.
Six years of research into Pluto & the USA have taught me that Pluto deserves our reverence. In ancient Greece, chthonic gods like Hades/Pluto were not feared, but they were treated with respect, and worshipped as powerful deities. Today, as Pluto-related themes (such as war, violence, power struggles, exploitation of land and bodies, and the question of humanity's survival) are surfacing all around us, I believe there is deep medicine in getting to know this archetype. Pluto helps us confront what we're really up against, and it might even offer us a light in the darkness, a guiding energy to follow in the years to come.
